Jane Goodwin serves as the Chair of Citizens for Better Schools, the PC founded in 2001 for the purpose of assisting with passage of the referendum every four years. She has been on the executive committee and worked tirelessly for this referendum in 2002 and 2006 and last March, the referendum was passed with a strong “YES” and 66% of the vote enabling our schools to have the additional funds for another four years.
Jane began her professional career as a high school teacher. She spent more than 20 years in the private sector specializing in information technology sales and marketing and worked with K-12 and post secondary educators throughout the country. Most recently she served as Marketing and Community Relations Director for the Sarasota Family YMCA and was Executive Director of the Sarasota Home Builders Association. She serves on the board of Samaritan Christian Counseling Services of the Gulf Coast along with working tirelessly as a child advocate for abused and neglected kids within our community. She has two young grandchildren who currently attend Gulf Gate Elementary School. Her personal mission statement is “living a purpose filled life of service to others”.
