Candidate Statement

Marguerite Malone

Marguerite Malone has served on the Sarasota Memorial Public Hospital Board, At-Large Seat 3, from November, 2004 to the present. This Board consists of 9 unpaid elected community members.

She has served 10 years as a Board officer including three terms as Board Chairman. She currently is the Board Vice-Chairman and serves as Chairman of the Board's Mission and Planning Committee and Quality Committee. In addition, she has chaired the Board's Finance, Investment and Audit Committees, as well as the Hospital's CEO Search Committee.

It has garnered many national and regional awards and accolades for the outstanding quality of care and services that are provided to our community. It is extremely well run, with over 4000 employees and approximately 900 physicians. I take our mission to provide for all of our community very seriously and totally support keeping Sarasota Memorial a public hospital so that it can continue its outstanding service to our entire community.”

Malone has contributed to her community in diverse leadership positions including serving on the Boards of the Urban League; Youth Services, USA; Leadership Memphis and Rotary. She provides numerous presentations to Sarasota organizations on the Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System.

Malone has a Bachelor’s degree from William and Mary and Master’s and Doctorate degrees from University of Memphis. Her work experience of over 25 years includes secondary school teacher, Assistant Professor and Administrator at University of Memphis, Manager of Training and Development at Federal Express Corporation and Owner and President of MGM Consulting Company. Areas of expertise include quality improvement, executive leadership, organizational development and strategic planning and execution.

Marguerite Malone has been a full-time resident of Sarasota since 2001. She is married to RADM T. Logan Malone and they have six grown children and 12 grandchildren.
