|SARASOTA, FL - Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner announced that vote-by-mail ballots will begin being mailed to domestic voters for the December 5, 2017 House District 72 Special (Democratic) Primary on October 31.
A total of 8,576 ballots will be mailed to voters who are registered Democrats and who have a vote-by-mail ballot request on file with the elections office. On October 20, 245 ballots were sent to military and overseas civilian voters registered in House District 72, Turner said.
To request a vote-by-mail ballot, a voter may submit an online request at www.SarasotaVotes.com
Requests for ballots to be mailed must be received by the elections office no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29. Voted ballots may be returned by mail or in person but must be received by the supervisor of elections no later than 7 p.m. on election day to be counted.
A voter, with the exception of uniformed service and civilian voters living overseas, who requests a ballot be mailed to an address other than the address on file in the Florida Voter Registration System, must submit a signed written request to the elections office.
Turner reminds voters that the signature on the vote-by-mail ballot certificate must match the voter’s signature on file in the elections office to be counted. Voters may update their signatures by submitting a Florida Voter Registration Application to the supervisor of elections office. Signature updates must be received prior to the start of the vote-by-mail canvass, which is Tuesday, November 28.
