Voter registration deadline for March 20 elections is nearing

SARASOTA, FL - The deadline to register to be eligible to vote in the March 20 School District Ad Valorem Millage Election, the Holiday Park Park & Recreation District Election, and the Town of Longboat Key General Election is Tuesday, February 20, Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner said today.

Turner said new voter registration applications must be completed, signed and returned in person or postmarked by the February 20 deadline. An application may also be submitted online at www.registertovoteFlorida.gov or through any driver license or tax collector’s office that issues Florida driver licenses or Florida ID cards.

Voters who have moved, changed names, or need to update their signatures since the last election may also complete a voter registration application to update their records.

Signature updates must be received by the elections office prior to the start of the canvass of vote-by-mail ballots, which is scheduled for Thursday, March 8, 8:30 a.m. Address and name changes may be made any time prior to voting.

Voter registration applications are available at all three elections offices in Sarasota, Venice and North Port, at public libraries, military recruitment offices, and public assistance offices, and may be downloaded at www.SarasotaVotes.com .

Finally, Turner recommends that voters confirm they are registered and that their registration information is current before the February 20 deadline. For more information or assistance, voters may call the supervisor of elections office at 941.861.8619 or visit www.SarasotaVotes.com.
