Supervisor of elections mails vote-by-mail ballots for December 5 HD 72 Special (Democratic) Primary

SARASOTA, FL - The Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections office has begun sending out vote-by-mail (absentee) ballots for the December 5, 2017 House District 72 Special (Democratic) Primary, Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner said today.

A total of 245 ballots were sent on October 20 to absent military and overseas voters, including 137 by mail and 108 by email, Turner said. Absent military and overseas voters include all active-duty military personnel, along with their spouses and dependents, and overseas U.S. citizens who are absent from Sarasota County.

The initial mailing of 8,595 ballots to domestic voters, registered as Democrats and residing in House District 72, is scheduled for October 31.

To request a vote-by-mail ballot, voters may email, call (941) 861-8618, or submit an online request from the supervisor of elections website at Requests for ballots to be mailed must be received by the elections office no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29.

To be counted, voted ballots must be received in the supervisor of elections office no later than 7 p.m. on election day, and may not be left at a precinct. Turner reminds voters to return marked ballots early to avoid postal delays and recommends that voters mail ballots at least one week before the deadline.
