~ What you need to know ~

(SARASOTA, FL) - Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding registered voters, who reside within the Venice city limits, that the city’s General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7.

Eligible voters will be casting ballots for candidates to fill two seats on the city council, and may vote only at the polling place in their assigned precincts on November 7 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. (Note: early voting for the Nov 7 election will continue through tomorrow, November 3, 8:30am - 4:30pm, daily.)

Turner invites voters to visit or call (941) 861-3760 to find out where their polling places are before heading out to the polls on election day. Polling place information is also printed on the Voter Information Card that is issued to each voter.

Every voter must present a valid and current photo and signature identification upon check-in at the polling place on election day. Voters who do not produce the required ID will be offered a provisional ballot. Valid IDs include a current Florida driver license, Florida ID card, U.S. passport, debit or credit card, military ID, student ID, retirement center ID, neighborhood association ID, public assistance ID, veteran health ID, a concealed carry permit or a government employee ID.

Turner also reminds voters who choose to vote by mail that, to be counted, their marked ballots must be received in the elections office no later than 7 p.m. on election night. Vote-by-mail ballots may be returned by mail or in person to any elections office, but may not be left at a precinct on election day.
