Official statement by Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner
| ~ Sarasota County voters need to be prepared before going to vote during the Nov 6 General Election ~
On the eve of the start of early voting for the November 6 General Election, I want to emphasize the importance of the sample ballot, which we mailed this week to all Sarasota County voters who have not requested a vote-by-mail ballot. A sample ballot is also available online at SarasotaVotes.com.
Beginning Monday, October 22 and continuing through Saturday, November 3, tens of thousands of you will be taking advantage of early voting at six locations throughout the county. We are preparing for a strong turnout and our election workers are trained and ready to serve you, but we need your help.
If you are planning to vote early or on Election Day, please be prepared. The ballot is longer than usual, and it could take several minutes to complete the voting process. So please don’t wait until you get into the voting booth to begin making your choices. Study your sample ballot and mark your choices on it. Take a sample ballot or other reference materials with you when you go to vote to use as a guide. This is permitted and will help to keep the lines moving during the 13 days of early voting and on Election Day.
Planning ahead will go a long way toward keeping the lines - and the process - moving forward. On behalf of my staff and our dedicated election workers, thank you for your cooperation and for voting in 2018!
