|~ Domestic ballots scheduled for February 5 mailing ~
SARASOTA, FL - Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner will begin today sending vote-by-mail ballots for the March 12, 2019 Town of Longboat Key and Holiday Park Park and Recreation District elections to active duty military personnel and their spouses and dependents who are absent from Sarasota County, and overseas U.S. citizens.
Turner said 18 ballots will be in the mail today to military and overseas voters and another 820 are scheduled for mailing to domestic voters beginning February 5. Following the initial mailings, requests for vote-by-mail ballots will be processed and ballots mailed on a daily basis.
A voter may submit a vote-by-mail request online at SarasotaVotes.com/VotebyMail
Requests for ballots to be mailed domestically must be received by the elections office no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6 to allow sufficient time for the ballot to reach the voter and be returned to the elections office in time to be counted. Voted ballots may be returned by mail or in person, but must be received by the supervisor of elections no later than 7 p.m. on election day, to be counted. Voters should return their ballots promptly to avoid postal service delays.
With the exception of uniformed services and civilian voters living overseas, a voter who requests a ballot be mailed to an address other than the address on file in the Florida Voter Registration System, must submit a signed written request to the elections office.
Turner reminds voters that the signature on the vote-by-mail ballot certificate will be compared to the voter’s signature on file in the elections office for verification purposes. Voters may update their signatures by submitting a Florida Voter Registration Application to the supervisor of elections office. Signature updates for these elections must be received by the elections office by 8:30 a.m., Monday, March 4.
