Supervisor of elections urges voters to consdier vote-by-mail for March 17 presidential primary

SARASOTA, FL - Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is suggesting Sarasota County voters consider voting by mail in the March 17, 2020 elections as an alternative to going to the polls on election day. “Voting by mail is a safe and convenient option for both election day voting and early voting and is available to all voters,” Turner said.

The March 17 elections include the presidential preference primary, Holiday Park Park and Recreation District election, and the Town of Longboat Key bond referendum.

A request for a vote-by-mail ballot may be submitted online at or by phone to 941.861.8618. A vote-by-mail ballot may be requested for a specific election or for all available elections through 2022. A voter, who would like a ballot mailed to him/her for the March 17 elections must make the request no later than 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.

Voted ballots may be returned by mail or in person, but must reach any one of the following three supervisor of elections offices by 7 p.m. on election night:

· Sarasota County Terrace Building, 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota, 34237
· R.L. Anderson Administration Building, 4000 Tamiami Trail S., Venice 34293
· Biscayne Plaza, 13640 Tamiami Trail, North Port 34287

Voted ballots may also be dropped into secure vote-by-mail drop boxes located inside all elections offices during regular business hours (8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays), as well as inside all early voting locations during early voting dates and times (March 7 - March 14; 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. daily).
