Supervisor of elections to voters: "Please consider voting early!"

~ Saturday, August 8 - Sunday, August 16, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. daily ~

SARASOTA, FL - Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is urging Sarasota County voters to take advantage of early voting ahead of the Tuesday, August 18, 2020 primary election.

“Why wait until election day to vote? Early voting provides an in-person voting experience - like on election day - but allows a person to vote early at any one of five sites conveniently located throughout the county,” Turner noted.

To protect workers and the voting public at early voting and election day polling sites, the supervisor of elections is increasing safety measures, including providing face masks or face shields for poll workers and staff, routinely sanitizing surfaces and voting equipment, and practicing social distancing. Voters are also encouraged to bring and use face masks and practice social distancing when visiting early voting sites or on election day.

Early voting begins Saturday, August 8 and continues through Sunday, August 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the five locations listed below:

· Supervisor of Elections office: Terrace Building, 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota
· Supervisor of Elections office: R.L. Anderson Administration Building, 4000 Tamiami Trail S, Venice
· Supervisor of Elections office: Biscayne Plaza, 13640 Tamiami Trail, North Port
· Sarasota Square Mall: 8201 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota
· North Sarasota Library: 2801 Newtown Boulevard, Sarasota

Turner said voters may vote at any one of the locations listed above and, as on election day, must present a photo & signature identification upon checking in at the early voting site and prior to voting. Voters who do not present the required ID will be offered provisional ballots.

Turner also reminds voters who choose to vote by mail that secure vote-by-mail drop boxes will be available in all early voting locations during early voting dates and times, inclusive of weekends. Ballots may also be returned to any elections office during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays) and until 7 p.m. on election night.
