Supervisor of elections sets early voting for November 3 general election

SARASOTA, FL - Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner announced today that early voting for the November 3 general election will begin Monday, October 19 and continue through Sunday, November 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. Voters may cast their ballots early at any one of the following eight locations throughout Sarasota County:

· Elections office: Terrace Building, 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota 34237
· Elections office: R.L. Anderson Administration Building, 4000 Tamiami Trail S, Venice 34293
· Elections office: Biscayne Plaza, 13640 Tamiami Trail, North Port 34287
· North Sarasota Library: 2801 Newtown Boulevard, Sarasota 34234
· Fruitville Library: 100 Apex Road, Sarasota 34240
· Shannon Staub Library: 4675 Career Lane, North Port 34289
· Sarasota Square Mall: 8201 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota 34238
· Bee Ridge Park: 4430 S Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota 34231

Turner encourages voters who plan to vote in person during this election to consider voting early. “With expected high turnout for the November 3 election, I strongly urge voters to take advantage of the 14 days of early voting, which will go a long way toward helping reduce lines and wait times at polling places on Election Day,” Turner said.

Early voting is comparable to voting in person on election day. The same equipment and voting process are used during early voting and at election day polling places. However, voters can choose any early voting site in the county, as opposed to voting at an assigned location. “Sarasota County is offering more days and locations for early voting than ever before,” Turner added.

Voters who choose to vote early must present photo and signature identification upon check-in at the early voting site and prior to voting. Voters who do not present the required ID will be offered a provisional ballot.

Vote-by-mail ballots may be returned at early voting sites
Turner also reminds voters, who choose to vote by mail, that secure drop boxes will be accessible inside all early voting sites for return of vote-by-mail ballots during the early voting dates and times listed above, including weekend days. In addition, drop boxes are available now inside the three elections offices in Sarasota, Venice and North Port during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Election Day, November 3.
