The elections office is preparing for a busy 2024 election year. Part of that preparation includes hiring several part-time temporary staff positions to support the March, August and November elections.

Voting Equipment Facility (VEF) Worker
Warehouse work; physical demands include working on your feet, drive/deliver in a work truck/van, pushing/pulling equipment, lifting up to 45 pounds. Basic tech/computer skills required for prep and testing of voting equipment.

Set-up/Delivery Day Team
Team works to deliver items to precincts on the Monday prior to each election. Work includes setting up some equipment for poll workers; use of personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement.

Zone Technician
Provides technical support for all equipment during early voting and on election day to assigned precincts; requires prior training in class and online.

Data, Acquisition and Reporting Center (DARC) Assistance
Assist IT team running vote-by-mail ballots through high-speed scanners.

Election Day Supply Delivery
Assigned to deliver additional supplies when needed (using personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement) to precincts. May be required to lift (up to 45 pounds with a partner) and set up equipment at precincts. Assigned in both north and south parts of the county.

 

Voter Services Clerical Work and Phone Bank Operators
Desk work, answering phones, filing, mail processing, use of office equipment, computer work, working in the voter registration database, providing customer service to voters and the general public.

Early Voting
Poll worker positions (clerks, assistant clerks, inspectors, deputies) employed at SOE offices and remote sites used during early voting.

Vote-by-Mail Activities and Clerical Work
Activities related to the mailing and opening of vote-by-mail ballots including but not limited to: processing ballot requests by phone or mail, stuffing envelopes, mailing, proofing, opening, duplication or serving as a phone bank operator.

Supervised Voting
Participate with a team of workers to deliver ballots to voters at local assisted living and nursing facilities who have requested vote-by-mail ballots.

 

Clerical work
Desk work, assisting the HR director with hiring paperwork and filing. Assisting the poll worker coordinator and poll worker training coordinator, answering phones from poll workers, assisting in poll worker assignments, polling place communication and with training scheduling.

Poll Worker Trainer
Work with the training team to facilitate training for all poll workers. Prior training/teaching experience required.

Election Day Support and Transporters
Work to support needs on election day including delivering supplies or additional ballots to precincts as needed.

Election Night Check-in Team
Work on election night at one of four check-in sites throughout the county to help check-in poll workers with ballots and supplies.

Audit or Recount Teams
Work in teams of two to assist with any required manual audits or recounts. Requires physically counting ballots.

 

Clerical work
Desk work, assisting the finance director and staff with clerical duties including but not limited to: answering phones, filing, customer service, and other office projects.

 

Rates of pay range from $12 to $15 per hour, depending on position/work. Scheduled hours and length of employment vary according to department needs. Workers are hired as temporary, part-time employees and are required to complete hiring paperwork and produce identification for proof of employment eligibility.
