FOR THE MARCH 17, 2020



The Sarasota County Canvassing Board for the March 17, 2020 Presidential Preference Primary is scheduled to meet as follows:


Thursday, January 16, 1 p.m. – Orientation meeting


Monday, February 24, 8:30 a.m. – Initial vote-by-mail ballot canvass


Wednesday, February 26, 9 a.m. -- Logic and accuracy test of voting equipment


Thursday, February 27, 9 a.m. – Begin tabulation of vote-by-mail ballots (continue daily as needed)


Friday, March 6, 9 a.m. – Canvass of vote-by-mail ballots


Wednesday, March 11, 9 a.m. – Canvass of vote-by-mail ballots continues


Monday, March 16, 3:30 p.m. – Canvass of vote-by-mail ballots continues


Tuesday, March 17, 5 p.m. – Canvass of vote-by-mail ballots and tabulation of results (7 p.m.)


Thursday, March 19, 5:30 p.m. – Final Canvass of vote-by-mail and provisional ballots


Friday, March 27, 4:30 p.m. – 10-day overseas vote-by-mail ballot canvass and certification of election


Tuesday, March 31, 9 a.m. – Manual post-election certification audit


Following the initial vote-by-mail canvass, ballot opening and processing will continue daily (weekdays) as needed, to completion. However, no results will be released until after the polls close on March 17.


All meetings will take place at the Office of the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections, 1st floor, 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota, Florida, and, in accordance with the Sunshine Law of Florida, are open to the public. Call 941.861.8610 for more information.


In the event the canvassing board needs additional time to canvass and there is not time to advertise a change in the above schedule, pursuant to §102.141(2), Florida Statutes, notice of change will be posted at
